Our Story
Luke and Sophia met in 2014 or 2015 (they're not quite sure), when he was entering high school and she was finishing middle school. They spent the next four years as good friends, traveling in similar circles across their high school campus and church youth groups.
Luke was a year ahead of Sophia in school, and it was on the day of his high school graduation that she realized her feelings for him. Over the next year, the two began spending more one-on-one time together during Luke's trips back home from college in San Francisco. Luke never noticed that Sophia liked him--not even when she invited him to see the theatrical release of Peter Jackson's restored-footage WWI documentary with her.
After graduating high school, Sophia moved south to attend UCLA. That same year, Luke transferred to the film program at Loyola Marymount University, placing them just over 11 miles from each other (which can be either twenty minutes or two hours, in Los Angeles). They continued to see each other whenever possible, developing an increasingly close friendship before officially becoming a couple in November of 2019.
Almost six years later, in the summer of 2025, Luke asked Sophia to marry him while walking in the Burren in County Clare, Ireland. They look forward to celebrating their next chapter with their families and friends this June!
